Board Information
The NDMA Board of Directors meets on the third Monday of every month at 5:30 pm in the conference room on-site, unless noted on the schedule.
NDMA School Board Elections will be held on Monday, April 28th, 2025 at 3:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

We currently have openings for 1 community member.
The Board of Directors consists of a minimum of one (1) full-time certified educator, one (1) parent, and one (1) community member. This board makeup ensures that the NDMA Board of Directors complies with current state statutes. Ex-officio members include the Executive Director. All staff members and parents or guardians are allowed to vote in Board elections.
Election Procedure at NDMA
- Announce Board of Director vacancies
- Interested Parties fill out an application
- Election is held at Annual Meeting
- Introduction of board candidates
- Ask for nominations from the floor-3 times
- Ask membership to complete the ballot voting
- Sergeant of Arms collects and tallies ballots from membership
- Notify candidates of results
- Notify membership of results
- Post the election results on website

Parent member position
Tim Dezelske (incumbent). Tim has been NDMA’s Board Chair for the past 3 years. Tim has 2 children attending NDMA at this time. He loves to help others around him and is very connected to the community. “I want to be involved in my children’s education, I want to show support to school staff, and I want to continue learning in my role on the board.”
Teacher member position
Spencer Kangas (incumbent). Spencer has been the PE/Health/DAPE teacher at NDMA for 8 years. He has served on the board of directors for 6 years and is currently the treasurer of the Finance Committee. Spencer wants to help NDMA, do well for our students, and represent the staff at NDMA.
Tammy Maiers. Tammy has worked at NDMA for 10 years as a Speech Pathologist. Tammy is active in her community and is committed to NDMA, “I genuinely care about this school and want to be a part of decisions that shape our future.” She has a desire to support education and growth, to be a voice for parents, for teachers, and for our community.
Community member position
Shari Colvin (incumbent). Shari has supported NDMA from the beginning and would like to continue to do this by serving on the the school’s Board of Directors. She has served as board chair and secretary on several different MN non-profit boards of directors and has a great understanding of governance. Two of her grandchildren attended NDMA and she currently volunteers for math leagues.
