About Me

Ms. Cynthia Vold

Welcome to my classroom!
I grew up in Bemidji, MN and stayed after high school to attend Bemidji State University. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a specialty in Early Childhood Education in December of 2002. Upon graduation, I subbed in the Bagley, Bemidji and Redlake/Ponemah school districts.
After a year of subbing, I obtained a job working with Early Head Start where I worked with families who had children from the ages of birth to three. I very much enjoyed this job but knew that my ultimate goal was to teach Kindergarten. I left Early Head Start to teach in a three to six year old classroom at another Head Start program in Bemidji. Five months into this job I was asked to teach Kindergarten at New Discoveries Montessori Academy.
After my first summer at St. Kates, working on my Montessori credential, I knew I would thoroughly enjoy the Montessori curriculum and philosophy. With my passion for children, I was excited to find a philosophy that embraced the idea of putting children’s needs first.
On a more personal note, I have two older sisters, a younger brother and two parents that I love dearly. I am so close to my family and love to get up to Bemidji to see them whenever I can. My oldest sister had her first baby on May 5th, 2008 and I love to visit my little niece. I also have two step nieces and a step nephew. Growing up was an absolute joy for me and I feel really blessed to have such a wonderful family.
