Healthy Snack Program
The healthy snack program is going very well! The children are enjoying having the opportunity to prepare and serve the snack. This week marks the first time that the students will be helping to purchase snack items at Cash Wise. Please look inside your child’s home school communication binder for more information regarding this procedure. I believe that the children are learning that eating healthy is not only easy, but that it is also fun and worthwhile! Please feel free to give me feedback regarding the healthy snack program. I am curious to find out from you what your child/children are saying about the healthy snack program. I am also curious to find out if your children are eating healthier at home, suggesting snack recipes, etc. If you have any suggestions for improving the healthy snack program, please post them on this blog. I look forward to reading your comments!

My daughter seems to be eating healthier. She questions what foods are the healthiest at the table and is making better choices for a snack at night.

Calen has come home several times now commenting on what a good snack they had in school that day, and asking if we could make the same thing at home! Score! – coming from a picky eater. Getting the kids involved in the shopping, preparing and serving is a great idea too that I think adds to their interest in paying more attention to what we eat (and the cost involved too!). A really good idea Mr. Stolp – thank you!

Cindy mentioned you are looking for apples. We have two apple trees on our office property. One is LOADED with apples that I believe are pie apples. I tasted one and it was tart. The other tree is a Harrelson, which is a great eating apple. I’m not sure how many are left, as we keep an open invitation to pick apples and I’m told by staff they are eating them for snack. There’s probably plenty up high, out of reach.
