Should My Child be Bringing Toys and Electronic Games to School?

The answer to the question is a definitive “No.”  We have beautiful learning materials and equipment at New Discoveries Montessori Academy.  Your child’s toys and electronic games become a distraction and a temptation for misuse in this setting.  ALL toys are included in this directive.  Thank you for your consideration in this regard.

Weather Should Dictate Proper Clothing Choices

Although the headline might appear obvious, the ever-changing weather in our region requires careful attention when it comes to helping your child make the right choices. With this in mind, please make an effort to read or listen to the weather forecast daily.  Next, please help your child plan the appropriate wardrobe choices for that day or for the next day.  In addtion, please make sure to label all items of clothing and all belongings for your child.  You would be amazed at how many items remain behind after all the students have gone home at the end of the day.   We will be donating all items left behind  at NDMA at the end of each trimester to a local charity.

New PTO is Great Addition at New Discoveries

I am happy to announce that a core group of parents have made a commitment to organize a formal parent/teacher organization.  They have met regularly this school year with the following mission in mind: Parent Advocates providing Resources to improve  the learning Environment for New Discoveries Teachers, Students and Staff.  Please look for a copy of the group’s meeting minutes to appear in the announcement section of our web page.  The group is currently working on developing bilaws as they prepare to apply for non-profit status.  They have also coordinated an effort to make logo-wear available to students and families.   The group will meet on alternating Mondays and Tuesdays the last week of every month.   Parents, guardians and other family members are encouraged to attend.  There will be a minimum of 2 teachers attending each meeting.
